This novelty song was written by Allan Sherman & Lou Busch, to the tune of Amilcare Ponchielli's “Dance of the Hours” (same tune as Nancy Sinatra’s “Like I Do” from 1962).
It was based on letters of complaint Allan received from his son Robert while Robert attended Camp Champlain, a summer camp in Westport, New York.
The song was released on August 1963 and reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 list for 3 weeks beginning on August 24, 1963.
It also hit #1 in Hong Kong and won the 1964 Grammy Award for Best Comedy Performance.
In 2020, the song was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant"

Trying to find a version of the video without the words written up on the screen in huge letters. Not this one sadly.
