Plastic bumper's need to be primed with plastic primer adhesive paint before finishing coat if it's plastic . It's always the prep in every thing one does that's most important .

Bumper wasnt sprayed with adhesion promoter and no plastisier added to the paint but then looking at that car and the bodge ups so far id suspect that the customer is the kind that only pays for the cheapest job possible....

Use some compressed air on that paint. Might help a little

Great video as always, thanks for showing us these problems that can happen to any installer. Good luck with the wrap bro.

Do a video of how your gonna prep the bumper before you wrap it.
I think it would help a lot of us.

wow so relieved when you said this doesn't happen on OEM paint. By the looks the repaint was not cleaned and primed properly.

The SAME exact thing happened to my BMW when it got repainted. Crap paint job and the first time I tried to glass the wrap the clear coat came off on the wrap. I've been sanding the car every since. So pissed. Its cost me so much time for nothing but I super glad I didn't bring it to a shop. Its been a nightmare but Im pushing through. But now Im gonna miss this car show on August 1st because of it

I've repainted cars & had cars repainted & wrapped them, & never have I've seen paint pull up like this. Whoever painted that car, didn't do a good job at all. That's Never seen it peel off in paper sized sheets, so
Lucky only a front end... Thanks for this info.
Can't wait for the cobra!
Cheers, A

I had a bike that had a paint job that ended up flaking like that once, awful, my fault admittedly as I painted it myself, I believe I was 8yrs old lol
Your customer seriously needs to find a new spray shop, the blue looks nice on that BTW and nice vid also 👍👌

It’s coming out off cause the painter didn’t put sealer or fresh primer on the bumper to promote better adhesion even though bumper comes primer but it’s an extremely cheap primer and it’s probably being their long time.

So you can't wrap over a sanded surface?

The bumper wasn’t prepared properly (wasn’t sanded before primer).

Honest question. Why not just scuff the plastic and wrap it instead of repainting?

That bumper was new before it was painted.. it should have been prepped properly.. iit should have been cleaned/ lightly sanded/ scuffed, wiped down with a panel prep/ paint prep, then sprayed with adhesive promoter to help the paint bond to the plastic/ fiberglass surface.. if it was an OEM bumper then again the painter did not do proper prep work before he sprayed..

They didnt go with plastic primer before paint...

That’s what happens when bumpers are promoted, and sealed with an epoxy primer, and more than likely the clear was either crap or wasn’t hardened correctly

Properly done paint job will not come off like that. Your getting shafted left n right Christian lol horrible wraps coming in and horrible paint jobs. Good thing your a pro and can fix it!
