Thank you for making this make sense. I like how you (in my opinion and from my perspective) take the emotions out of things for a moment and look at love logically, then feed the emotions back in with smaller increments so that at no time are emotions and logic not evenly distributed and balanced. This is so true. I stayed with my ex despite our goals in love being different because I couldn’t face the fact that I had made the ‘wrong decision’. Fortunately, he was the one who made the decision to end things. In my next relationship, I would like to make decisions to correct course like he did.

Unpopular opinion: the goal isn't always being happy or feeling good in the relationship, but just staying in for better times ahead. It's about the challenge and knowing that growing isn't hopping relationships or jumping ship, but staying. No good company ever became great by people jumping ship. No country became great by people not willing to sustain and commiting. Why than do people think it's legitimate to jump out of relationships like it doesn't matter?
And sure, it's merely bad jumping out of relationships, but when you have kids together, I think it might even be irresponsible and bad parenting if you haven't done your utmost to stay together.
