High impact terrorism.

The Taiwanese company Apollo's CEO has just stated that the pagers were not made in Taiwan but made in Budapest at the request of a company there. He stated that the Budapest company wanted to use their Company Logo & Brand. He looked shocked like even he was duped. He insisted the pagers were not made in Taiwan, but Budapest.

Smartphones are vulnerable to spyware and rootkit software in the Android software. It does not matter if they installed Linux for mobile on the phones, since that is also vulnerable to that type of software. Pagers do not have such level of complexity and run on a read only ROM chip that can't be modified. Lithium batteries do not do this and its not possible to do this with them, unless they are damaged. I don't know what type of batteries the pagers where using. I do suspect this was not the battery. I am sure answers are going to be found and published soon.

I don't know how they did it - or who 'they' even are, but it strikes me that this can't be a design fault. It surely couldn't happen that so many devices would fail at the same time. These things happen in cars all the time, and it's never a case of 3000 hatchbacks suddenly veering off the road on a particular damp Tuesday.

Hi Tim, remember the Ammonium nitrate fertiliser warehouse explosion in Beirut. Very very ‘ murky’ how that shipment ended up in Beirut and then even ‘murkier’ how it ended up near a fireworks warehouse and ‘ accidently’ exploded due to welders fixing a door. Wonder why all that ammonium nitrate fertiliser was never used on the land? Very nasty and sad.

Whats insane is nearly all modern technology can be controlled digitally or by remote access. Someone with the know-how could hack into your TV, fridge, or any electrical appliance and cause it to blow up

Many questions need to be asked as this opens to many technologies that can be controlled and then used as weapons remotely. A new era of Geneva convention debates needed to address the new modern warfare and impact to civilians. also, looking to hear your questions and thoughts on Putin wanting to nuclear test in the Arctic….will it effect magnetic north, upper atmosphere or earths rotation. We tend to in the past do these events further down on the earths rotation but how will it effect from the pole…take care

Ethics is something the government of Israel under Netanyahu does not understand.
When Israel’s defence minister, Yoav Gallant, ordered a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip with “no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed”, he said: “We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly.”
So is it any surprise that Mossad does not think of collateral damage?

Collateral damage doesn't seem to be a factor in this war. It is a truly cruel engagement on both sides and peace currently seems impossible. The lithium battery situation is very unsettling. If remote overloading caused the explosions that of course means every lithium battery is vulnerable to causing various degrees of damage. Their volatility has already been proven before this.
