Pharaoh and his close circle were so deeply engaged in their polytheism and their idolatry, that they never considered leaving it. Pharaoh sought comfort in his power and glittering wealth, and was so entrenched in his spiritual blindness that he was no longer capable of distinguishing truth from falsehood. He informed them that he was their Lord, he pointed out that Musa was no more than a lowly servant with no power, strength or might. Musa’s strength however came directly from Allah. The people however believed and obeyed Pharaoh: the signs of Allah’s power began to descend.
