How will AI tools and LLMs help to transform medicine and cancer care in the future?

Vivek Natarajan, Research Lead, Google Health AI, Google, San Francisco, CA, provides an insight into his keynote talk on how artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) will transform medicine, including cancer care, in the future. These tools hold the potential to reduce the burden on healthcare systems globally and improve accessibility, affordability, and quality of care. In cancer care, AI tools will improve diagnostics, increase the understanding of disease biology, and provide constant support to patients during their care journey. Prior to their implementation, the specialized models must be trained using high-quality medical data, rigorously verified and validated, and aligned to the values of the practice of medicine. This interview took place at the Shaping the Future of Medicine (STFOM 2024) congress held in Leipzig, Germany.
