It's all turning a bit stormy but today I manage to harvest a whole basket of delicious organic tomatoes - as well as a few fresh beans, apples and sweetcorn before the rain drives me into the polytunnel. The beans have been as rare as hens teeth this year so any harvest is welcome! I mention more than once how much I love a good storm - do you? My Dad always used to tell me the clouds were angry and were banging against each other. I remember watching the storms with him and I have never been afraid of thunder. My dear Mum however was forever terrified and used to hide in the cupboard under the stairs! Lovely harvest Jane, well done in this awful growing year we've had. My worst yet!!

Jane you don't give yourself enough credit. That is the best harvest of tomatoes I have ever seen. Well done to you and Mike. Wow that was some storm, a dedicated gardener, you wouldn't go home until you harvested. The apples look beautiful. Well done on the corn, I harvested some of mine today too.
Your flowers looked superb, place looks absolutely beautiful.

Lovely video Jane...I love this time of the year... I got stuck in the greenhouse for half an hour today waiting for the storm to pass and I loved it 😂

Hi Jane, lovely harvest, that was a full basket of colours and flavours.
The weather was awful last night and epic at the same time.

Wow! I love a storm too, I think it may have come to us after you! I always associate rain with ironing. Not that I iron anything if I can help it, but my mum used to iron on rainy days. The fire on and the smell of freshly ironed clothes floating in the air is synonymous with a storm for me! No gods with furniture, or otherwise, just a mother and an ironing board! 😂 Lovely basket of happy!!

That storm that day was epic. It just never stopped rumbling did it. I have never heard continual thunder like that before

Happy Autumn Equinox! I heard that God was playing a bowling game, and the thunder was the bowling ball rolling down. It was Mother Nature doing housework by moving furniture. You have a beautiful harvest. Your basket is picture perfect and full of very tasty food!

Wonderful tomato harvest! I got a total of 6 toms this year, thanks to blight. I bet the plot smelt amazing in the rain too

Love a good storm, they usually seem to miss us though. My Mum used to make us all sit on the landing during a storm when we were kids where there were no windows & pull all the plugs out 😅

your corn looks fab, ours was not so great but better than last year! we can see the storms coming and can sometimes plan about getting stuff in like washing, garden stuff to put away!
storms, was always told they were angry gods and moving furniture around but we used to count from the lightening to the thunder to count it going away!

My Dad was an electrician and a tough old coal miner as well and he'd give me honest answers about lightening, storms, and electricity....not real comforting to a kid. lol But...he used to sing the song "Storms Never Last" (if you haven't heard it, give it a search...by Waylon Jennings) when it would storm. Now I think of him singing that song when it storms and I find it true for the storms in the atmosphere as well as the storms of life.

That was joyous to watch. I grew Grushova this year, but I didn’t really care for the taste. Do you ever do tomato reviews or taste tests? Some of your varieties look amazing.

We always used to count how many seconds are between the lightning and the thunder to see how close the storm is to our house
