Ultra Portable Cheap MultiBander #hf #sota #pota #antenna #hamradio

G'day mates, I'm so excited to be getting this video out there. I think this antenna is going to be a great antenna for it's ultra portability factor - not to mention, it is resonant on 8 bands! from 70cm to 20 meters, and I am yet to test it on 40 and 80 and 160 meters hahaha. That video is coming! Wooohooo. Enjoy the show mates and thanks so much for watching. Cheers and beers, Simon VA7BIX

Pile-ups baby! We love them pile-ups! That's what activating is all about brother! And great job on the jewelry wire antenna! 😀 73 KJ6ER

Exceptionally well done tutorial. Like you, I use a common slingshot to launch my antenna farm into a suitable tree. Your antenna package is lightweight, compact, and inexpensive. Since the wire is cheap enough, it may be a good idea to make an emergency antenna for the home station.

Talk about the ultimate in concealment. Set this up and no one would be the wiser. I love this and it seems to work like a charm. Keep it up buddy. 73's Cheers & Beers

Good stuff Simon. My pota set up fits in a standard backpack and I clip the tripod case to the molle webbing. That is definitely even more compact 👍

I have to say it’s pretty impressive as I’ve never had a pileup on those higher bands than that. You make it look so easy. Was any of this pre-measured? If not you’re the luckiest son of a gun out there. I have never been that lucky to pick the right length like that. Good job Simon!

You can get stainless steel fishing line (Spider Wire) and do the same thing with no prep to the wire other than winding it on a fishing reel

You can make a 50ohm delta loop, bottom fed, and raise the center up the tree and spread the sides out to get the 50 ohms. The spread and shape determine the impedance. I love delta loops, bi-directional and very low noise floor.

Silver wire = equals best conductivity, so that's one aspect I like about your wire antenna. I bought a spool of bare copper fishing trace wire from an online seller and thought that would be good to use in the same manner, except with an old Alvey fishing reel on a big Jarvis Walker fibre glass surf rod. You have demonstrated how well it works when there is decent propagation. Thankyou.

What about using a chalk line reel as opposed to a fishing reel?

what type wire did you use for he ground radials?

That’s cool but let’s be real. Nothing is more portable than the tape measure. It comes in its own case, roles itself up when your done, and clips on the pack or belt without taking up any room in it.there is nothing more portable than the tape measure.

Hey! I’ve got that same “Fanny pack” from MEC! Never thought about packing my radio gear in it for a POTA activation. Good choice. FYI- I did take it with me when I moved to Australia in 2007. I learned quickly, however, to call it a bum bag instead. VA3MZD

What video have you done on making your radials? I love your video’s and I am anxious to experiment with your antenna systems! I appreciate listening to your pile ups but I would REALLY LOVE THE DIY!
