There and Back through "Astro Tunes" portable player while driving my 67'VW from Chico up to Idaho to go fishing. Wore that tape OUT. Space boogie is a killer for us drummers as Simon makes that "timing hiccup so smooth and nasty. Beck at his best. R.I.P. and then play with the Lord, clapping time7/4. I miss him big time. See ya' up there.

Worth it to see a young Simon Phillips absolutely at the top of his game. Total monster 😮

Great performance. Simon Phillips monster on drums. He played with so many musicians. I remember when he replaced Jeff Porcaro in Toto . I saw them in 1992 in Melbourne. I was couple meters from stage and didn't know who was on drums .The solo was so powerful and I was thinking who is this so good drummer. They played "Jake to the bone" followed by drum solo .Later I found it was Simon Phillips. I saw Jeff Beck twice also in Melbourne. R.I.P.
Thanks for this video!

The beautiful Santa Barbara County Bowl .. what a great venue to see Jeff and his band. A great time to be young in SB.
I love that there are no vocal mics! Who else in rock could pull that off? Nobody! Thanks for all the fine music and inspiration, RIP Mr Beck

I had the great good fortune of seeing the same tour with a good friend at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, California. It was, and still is, some of the best live music I’ve ever heard.

I was there at this show. The SB County bowl is one great venue. Small outdoors where the sound is outstanding and your right there on top of it.

For me "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" was the most incredible thing I ever heard on an electric guitar live. Its not how fast you can play. Its how slow and with sustain and feeling, breathing every note.

Jeff Beck is guitar territory very few venture to learn let alone play.
Once before I heard this sort of thing with
Carlos Santana in 1976 at UCSB Robertson Gym and the classic "Europa"...for the first time ...live.
and later
a beautiful guitar solo Eric Clapton did as an intro to "Wonderful Tonight"...
in 1982 when he had Albert Lee and Ry Cooder on stage with him.❤

Thank you. For the great memory.

I have never seen any footage of the There and Back tour, this line up is just simply unbelievable, I saw this tour in Portland oregon Aug 80 and it blew my 19 year old mind, Simon Phillips is from another universe. Thank you for sharing this gem

Good grief Simon is relentless. He is still the same drummer, he was fully formed from early on. The power, spontaneous creativity and confidence on the kit too. Amazing!

There and Back is an amazing album and was huge in the 80s amongst my musician friends. Live footage of the tour is rare. Thank you! 🍻

Just outstanding! I would love to see every minute of footage. Thank God this is on video as it's a grand display of Jeff Beck on Fire, no one ever has played a guitar like that. He is relentless, and searing. Beck's musical ear goes beyond just notes on a fretboard. The entire band play on some other level.

This is superb to see ….what an amazing drum kit and superb drummer. Jeff has always given his musicians time to solo. Love it all. Thank you so much for sharing. I don’t know how long it’s been available but I’ve never seen it before. Hugely grateful 🙏
RIP Jeff Beck ❤❤🎶🎶

Awesome! I saw this tour (I was 17), and it remains one of the top shows I've ever seen, and I've seen a few.... I knew from the album that Simon was killer on the drums - I play - but I had no idea what I was going to witness. His work remains an influence on my playing even now. And of course Jeff and everyone else were AMAZING. So cool to see this. Heck Yeah!
