Drivers on the northeast side of Indianapolis will need to start watching their speed, because soon cameras will be watching, too.

INDOT is rolling out its “Safe Zones” pilot program at the Clear Path I-465/I-69 construction zone.

The speed cameras were supposed to be installed this week, but 13News learned the department is now looking to deploy them next week.

First. INDOT is out of control on how it's doing construction and it's work has only resulted in further traffic issues instead of any meaningful improvements to congestion.

Second, Indiana allowing this is unacceptable as it shows a willingness to disregard the privacy of drivers and starts a slippery slope to a surveillance state approach that can violate civil liberties. I agree that we gotta do something about traffic issues but this is not the solution at all.

Why don't we finish half the construction projects before starting new ones, and we wouldn't have 90% of 465 under construction tear round.

It's one thing to upgrade, but that would involve people actually working on these.

Remember everyone, it is the burden of the State to prove it was you driving. Without a pic of your face, how can they prove it was you?
