Just came here to say I did this on ps3, and actually defeated it using R&C 1 weapons. You can break his AI if you place a decoy on the other side of you and him. he only just swipes at you which is batshit easy to dodge anyway

You can clip into the fight as soon as you get decoy glove even if you are a noob.
