I sort of just assumed that the switch thing in riverside station was intended as a joke - you expect that physical switch to be the one to close the drawbridge, only for it to completely arbitrarily summon a new button which is the one that actually closes it - and contradicting sensible design, won’t allow it to be opened again

I had no idea people called TEC "T-E-C". That's just...wrong. It's TEC! TEC! Pronounced like "tech"! Also, regarding the Riverside station switch/blue switch. I always liked that. It was a big joke. You think the realistic looking switch will be THE switch, but no, it just gives you access to the real switch...which is a Mario-esque blue ! switch. I love it!

21:33 I also miss the scream the audience members would make when you'd hit them, usually the x-nauts. I was disappointed to see that missing from the remake

I think the reason you use the Switch keyboard when naming the baby Yoshi is so that you can't name him anything inappropriate.

The best part about the fast travel is the pipe between Twilight Town and Creepy Steeple, eliminating the last two trips.

I really miss the loud crowd reactions. Used to make you feel more immersed in the battle.

Other random changes I feel like are worth noting:
The danger sound now fades out after a few seconds
Yoshi feels not great to control now
You can hear luigi cheering when he is in the audience, which is cool

The Riverside Station drawbridge switch leading to a theatrical blue box is a visual gag. It's a joke. And every time I see footage of it, I laugh. I don't think I need to explain the joke any further, I know you get it. But the point was for the developers to play off the player's faculty for logic and deliver a quick little comedic bit. This is also how other speedrunners and challenge runners of the game have seen it, though I'm not sure all of them do or find it as funny as I do lol.

I actually like the checkpoint system in the game. Yes, if you lose in the pit, you would normally have to start all over, but it's a nice, less frustrating change. I remember dying at the very end several times in the original game and had to start all over again. Having to spend an additional hour or so to do it over again was very disheartening. This is a very welcome change.

26:50 this is one of the games best examples of it’s sometimes dry sense of humor. after getting through the whole station, you finally find the big important looking switch, and it’s actually just a switch to reveal another generic looking switch

My 3 biggest complaints are

1. The Text Speeds
2. Audience doesn’t boo or cheer you on in battles
3. Butchering certain music tracks and removing specific character sfx like Yoshi’s sprinting and flutter jump

I wish the remake let people read messages they missed just like in the old game. Mostly for the speed text moment with shop keeper's wife in Twilight town. Ya know?

My best guess for the extra save blocks is that they were added because the switch is supposedly portable, but also its original model has a battery life of 2 hours.

I have become very familiar with the pitiful battery life of the Nintendo Switch.

Yeah I really don't like how they changed "END OF CHAPTER" to "CLEAR!" Like it doesn't even make sense. You start off every chapter with it listing the chapter number and name and when you complete it, it's just a simple "CLEAR" like you just played through a small level. I don't know why they did that it made the end of the chapter seem less dramatic.

It’s so aggravating that they have the capability of having fast, skippable text IN GAME already. Example being when Frankie says I love you 100x. I can positively say speedrunners and mega fans are not going to be as drawn to replaying this version repeatedly if they don’t allow text skipping. Period.

I wish that they didn't remove the ability to name your profiles. I thought that was a cool feature from the original.

20:46 The replacement of the sound for presenting a crystal star to the the Thousand Year Door has to be one of the worst changes, the GameCube version stood out so much.
