So glad that there is someone like you Davy showing the whole history of Ireland online. The government in the south of Ireland is afraid to tell the truth history of Ireland and that’s why we don’t get thought it in schools.

Canadian here, my great grandfather came from Ireland, both me and my dad are named after him .He settled on Canada's east coast and started a family in a town called New Waterford. He was catholic, but his son, my grandfather, converted to marry my grandmother an English protestant, thus making our family protestant. When I was a child ( I'm 59 now) most of the schools were run by the catholic church, and a lot of the teachers were nuns, a certain amount of religion was taught in school but the protestant students didn't Have to participate.I always felt a little awkward during those occasions . There was always a mild undercurrent ( no violence) that one side was better than the other. That has died our now with the passage of time and the fall of religion. This situation with the catholic church controlling the schools only really occured on the east coast of Canada.

I’m Ex Para. I served in Northern Ireland. Not in 90s/2000s. In the 70s/80s when it was hell on earth. I’m sorry for what we done in Ireland. We should’ve never been there in the 1st place. God Bless. Time 20:47

I've learned allot about the troubles and Irish history on your videos and shorts, thank you! As an Irish-American my whole family and town had a ton of Irish pride. During the troubles as I kid I read about the news with great interest but did not fully understand what was going on only that I wanted the Brits out of Ireland. Thanks for all this information and also your stuff on rebel songs!

When I visited Belfast my family took a black taxi tour of Shankill road and the peace wall. We had 2 tour guides, a Catholic and a Protestant. It was funny how each of them had their own personal bias when explaining the events that happened, but they had some lighthearted banter and it was just eye opening how much things have changed

Fantastic Davy. Our story in the north is often forgotten or even forbidden to discuss. The history of this island didn't stop when the south got its independence. For us it only began.

Important work you’re doing with this series Davy. So many heroic Irishmen lost everything in the fight to finally remove the last remnants of British rule. These men and women deserve to be honoured in the same spirit the heroes from the Easter Uprising deservingly are. In my opinion the failure of those whose freedom was hard fought for in the southern counties bear an amount of shame in their failure to act in solidarity with their countrymen still suffering under the injustice of British rule. Sinn Fein continuing to earn better representation in the Dail is step forward in the right direction
