Finally, a cheap-and-cheerful Chinese iron that I'd actually consider buying! Thanks for keeping us up to date on what's available, Steve. As always, I enjoy your reviews.

Steve, thank you for ever review you are making, it's really helping in making a decision for what to go and your tutorials for different hardware designs is really great, I wanted to remake your led light ring for my microscope, but sadly your website is offline and can't find the latest schematics for the design. But maybe your website will be up again. Thank you again for your help you are giving us, it might not be a lot coming for me, but I still wanted to take this opportunity and say thank you.

They have no supply left already. Must have been popular. For the money, I think it's something to keep as a spare/emergency tool. Thanks for the review, Steve.

That's a really lovely soldering iron ✌️

Very interesting review Sir! I've always enjoyed the thorough and knowledgeable way you evaluate kits and this one is no different. Thanks! For the money, this is impressive technology. I think I'll throw away my Butane iron

Would you prefer this model or the Sequre S60p? Both are c210 compatible

Suggest getting a flexible USB-C silicon type rated for PD, or a right-angle type just for soldering iron usage. There are also PD rated right angle adapters, but that seems like too many connection points mechanically, maybe if you could clip a 3D print around it all to reliably secure it. The ergonomics of cable management always seem to fall a little short on these, and the cable will keep trying to pull it about.

Got one of these in the mail today.

I can't work out what the "Current Limit" setting actually does, if anything, it doesn't appear to make any difference to anything, you'd expect to be able to set an actual current limit, but it's just Yes/No, and doesn't seem to do anything that I could see.

For some reason, perhaps it's the supply, on a 30W supply when configured for 12v PPS (or Fixed) it reports 2.5A, but resets as soon as heater power attempts to be drawn, dropping it to 10V it reports 3.0A and works fine.

Anyway, nice iron, with a power supply that it is happy with. USB-C socket probably will be the point of eventual failure, some strain relief in the design would have been a good idea.

Great review.
I hope you will take a look at the Atten desoldering tweezers! Or, the WEP/Yihua 982 desoldering tweezers!

The capacitive wake-up solution seems like a clever idea, and better than using an accelerometer.

Cant get it shipped to the UK or I would get one looks good, thanks for the video

Wow. I really don't *need* another soldering iron, but this thing works very well for what it is. I really like this approach as while the construction is inexpensive, the tool has useful features, a nice screen, and an interface that actually seems thought out more than some. If they had taken the Miniware path this would be made of nicely machined aluminum, but cost $90.

KSGER's T12 clones have become fairly expensive over the years and their quality control is not great, but I'm impressed with this thing. It *shouldn't* cost much to make a DC soldering iron as it's basically just a FET with a temperature controller.

The only "downside" to this unit is that the one in the prior review had a safer, JBC-style handle whereas this one narrows to the tip with only plastic; it may give finer control, but your fingers are pretty close to the hot bit.

Since you also reviewed a lot of car related stuff, what do you think of the Ancel BM200? Maybe a interesting video?😉

Can you share your calibration settings please

Please review Pinecil v2 with DC Power supply through DC Barrel connector not flawed USB C or Quick Charger. Because mine purchased one work very good with cheap DC Power supply and running smoothly. My suspicion is USB C is not delivering its full power properly

very good for that price. buy it with bigger tip, throw it with some flux and tin to your car glove box and you have emergency soldering kit with you.

One thing I don't see mentioned about these modern irons is that inserting the tips with bare hands is super-dangerous whenever the units are powered on. If the unit turns on the tip power either intentionally or by accident because you touched a control or the logic isn't perfect, the tip is at operating temperature within 2 seconds.

Nice vid, as always. If you are looking for more USB powered 210 compatibles, Aifen has the A11...

One thing I don't like about all irons I've seen of this type is that none of them do anything to prevent you from inadvertently moving your fingers too far forward. The number of burns I've gotten from my S99 is too damned high!

13:54 You possibly need to re-calibrate when changing to JBC tips because they are likely different materials and construction.

I guess you checked the tip temperature off camera. Can you say in the video one way or the other please? so know it wasn’t an oversight.
