Pedal to the metal action filled with adrenaline! You can tell that this film was known for its time with elements from the early 2000’s with the electronic/rap music, the car culture and the young casual meetups etc! This one brings back a lot of memories as a teen and I’ve enjoyed every watch since then! A lot of full on and intense moments with all of these different characters! You do have some brilliant moments with all of the street racing set up and filmed in different ways like the first race taking place at night with the CGI which perfectly suits the short clips of the cars accelerating at high speeds! You also feel the intensity when you’re rooting for Brain to win in his green Eclipse too! Love the chemistry shown with Brian and Mia building a genuine, simple, charming and healthy relationship! Brian can also be relatable and vulnerable with all of these troubles and information coming to him whiles he is going undercover and Paul Walker delivers an energetic and enjoyable performance for an important character that is Brain O’Connor in this franchise! I really enjoy the performance from Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto in this film and he can come across as quite cold with the way he treats his colleagues as well as feeling the high pressure that he’s facing from other groups or people outside of his team! The visuals are stunning with the sandy and yellow coloured settings of LA which sets the summer vibes really well for the first film as a starter for the franchise! It goes to show that you can start off simple before experimenting with different locations taking place in later films! It’s nice that these main characters are given depth and that you can learn and take something from them throughout this film! Also the ending! Man I love it and it has to be one of if not the greatest race sequence from any of the Fast & Furious films personally! Just the main two characters driving down a road strip in the cars that suit their personalities racing against a massive freight train as an edge of your seat moment and to hope that they can get through the level crossing just before the train! The jump sequence is so satisfying to see as well! I find it really interesting that we are left without a clear wrap up which can leave the audience asking questions as to what can happen next with these two main characters! Tommy! I’m so pleased that you enjoyed this film and giving this one high praise! I will be coming back to this one for many more future rewatches to come 🙂👍🏻🎬🎥
