It's always weird to me how someone can be a dog or cat lover and, instead of channeling that love into helping a local animal shelter, they get into backyard breeding.

I volunteer with a cat shelter and I see how every single shelter in my area is at max capacity and BEGGING for volunteers/fosters/donations.

Seems like the majority of dog/cat breeders would be better off helping a local shelter, especially if it's just a hobby.

They keep telling "funny" stories about how their childhood hamsters died. One girl said she went on vacation and just straight up let her hamster dye of ☆vation. The way she told me while laughing still haunts me. That wasnt even the worst story

Me, as a dog trainer who keeps 'exotic' animals for a small town :c this can be such a trapping feeling, especially when it feels like no one accepts new information unless you essentially trick them into learning it themselves. Stay sane out there, guys!!

We have had dog litters before but never sold them they were both accidents 20 years apart with different dogs and we kept the litters as they were small dogs and each litter was 2 siblings so we were completely prepared to keep them and care for them. The first pair of sibling have died years ago now and the second pair are still around and are very happy. Will admit should've gotten the dogs spayed and neutered earlier but when it happened we were completely aware of the responsibility and have taken good care of both litters. Obviously not sustainable for every dog breed. Idk how people can let their dogs have many different litters and sell the puppies I'd be terrified of selling the puppies to a bad home.

Or the "i rescued this pig from a factory farm🥺" and then the pig is a teacup or miniature pet breed rather than a landrace or any other meat breed that would be on a farm. Bonus points if the pig is kept in a house with no contact with other pigs, bonus bonus points if the tiktok page showing off their "sanctuary" is asking for donations every second video.
