4 Ways to Get Parrot Off Your Shoulder

Parrots love being on shoulders but can be difficult to get off your shoulder. In this video I show you four ways that my parrots is trained to come off of my shoulder: step up, grab, fly to perch, step on perch. All four of these methods are trained with a clicker and target stick using the target training method.

You make it look super easy. My conure just digs his nails into my clothes and won't get off shoulder. When I bend so that he comes off, he just climbs to another higher point on my body.

I have a handheld T perch that I use for getting my birds off my shoulder and top of their cage which is a high level. Makes my life easier.

My Senegal parrot bob doesn’t like getting off my brother shoulder he won’t bite but sometimes it’s hard to get him off bc he likes staying there lol

I'm currently in my first spring as a parrot owner and my girl is super hormonal. I try not to touch her back but if she's out while I'm studying (not paying enough attention to her) she will grab my lip with a foot to try and feed me/get me to feed her. Is there any way to alleviate some of this hormonal behaviour?

Does she get aggressive during mating season please? I've been advised, senegals can become nasty around 3/4yrs. Really hope not, would break my heart to part with my boy. Thank you x

Mine will resist coming off my shoulder unless I'm fairly forceful with stepping onto my hand. I have found that extending my arm towards something interesting will prompt her to walk down my arm to my hand to investigate. Works great!

My friend's parrot was biting my ear and scratching the back of my head. My friend told me to jump and that is how I got him off.

Omg this cannot be. I am currently babysitting my friends ring neck parrot and she is a shoulder bird. It's very difficult to get her off the shoulder and I was looking around online and here is what I found. A very recent video only 11 hours ago. This is fate
