Otto Von Bismarck | Iron Chancellor Part 1
Born in Berlin in 1815, Bismarck was the Prussian statesman who oversaw the unification of Germany in the late 19th century. With his strategic genius, he not only created a united German state, but also significantly influenced European politics. In the 1840s, Bismarck entered politics. In 1862, after his great ascent to power, King Wilhelm I appointed him Prime Minister of Prussia. For his future plans, Bismarck strengthened the army and gained control over the duchies, first by defeating Denmark in 1864. Then, in 1866, he emerged victorious from the Austrian-Prussian War. This war led to the creation of the North German Confederation under Prussian leadership. In the last and most decisive conflict, the French-Prussian War of 1870-1871, Bismarck united the German states against a common enemy and defeated the French army. Continued in Part 2.
