Do not turn the car off. You lose steering and braking ability . Throw it into neutral

Step 4 :brake to a complete stop

Turning off the car should be the last resort, if you cannot first put it into neutral for any reason, then you can shut off the engine, apply breaks, and hope you are on a straight away. Do not focus on turning on your hazards in this situation, because any distractions, or time lost, can cost you.

DO NOT TURN THE ENGINE OFF. In modern cars once the engine is turned off you can’t turn the vehicle. There is a lock that locks the steering wheel to prevent vehicular theft

In georgia there was a crash in which a ford mustang gt's accelerator got stuck the car was going 100+ mph, the driver tried everything, even taking the key out but nothing stopped the car so he knew as he was getting to a much busier area he had to crash, so he crashed the car, but luckily he survived

Don’t turn off the car. Just brake and don’t let off, the brakes will always overpower the engine in a car with disc brakes

Wrong. You don’t wanna turn off your car because you loose both brake and steering systems. Just throw it on neutral and apply brakes to slow down.

Shouldn’t you put it into neutral first while braking then turn off the engine? Killing the engine first will lock the steering then that will kill you.

You had you are right with most of the part, but the first part is going to guarantee the death. Turning off the car turns off the steering you turn off the steering you’re gonna you can’t control where you’re gonna turn automatically without turning yourself with steering wheel and you could automatically just hit a car, not a car.

Do not turn off the engine because when you do that to cannot put it into neutral it is locked at that gear setting and plus when the engine is off you cannot turn on your hazard lights because there is no power to use to turn the hazard lights on what you need to do is:


Step 1: brake and Put your car into neutral

Step 2: Turn on your hazard lights

Step 3: try to steer the car off of on coming traffic you can steer to the side of the road

Step 4: Exit the vehicle

Step 5: look for the problem why the accelerator is stuck but make sure you are not in the vehicle while looking for the problem

Step 6: if you find the problem try to fix it if you cannot find the problem get the attention of a nearby car and get them to help find it and if you end up finding the problem and don’t know how to fix it your can do the same of asking a nearby car and if they don’t know then your can start calling police to come call for repair services

Idk much about cars but if I'm about to die, pretty sure putting on the hazard warning lights is not on my list of priorities. Not until I'm safe and out of the car at least
