The top ten are all movies that I enjoy rewatching (the first 7 or 8 moreso than the others)...the bottom five, not so much (have only seen each of them once, no desire to sit through them again).

Wow I don't think I've seen these films ranked quite like this. Are you talking total nonsense, not total but some haha. Like iron man 3 above iron man. First off, I agree iron man 3 is underrated. You know I'm a huge Shane black fan as well so I obviously loved the dialogue and direction. While I was pretty pissed about that twist, it wasn't actually the same reason as you mentioned. I didn't know squat about the mandarin going into this film, but they got Ben Kingsley, and he was KILLING it. When the twist was revealed, I thought (maybe I was just hoping) it was an act. When I realized that was the direction they were going, I got sad haha. But the actual story itself had to happen, it was a character study of Tony stark after everything he's gone through up to that point, mostly in the avengers, and to shove a lot of "iron maning" into that would've felt forced. Maybe if they'd had ben Kingsley suck at the role or gotten someone far below his skill level, I might've welcomed the twist. Some of that glowing body CGI doesn't look that good either. Ok, I rambled on too long for iron man 3. I'm curious though what was that explanation you'd missed in avengers age of ultron? Is it the sudden romance with hulk and black widow, cuz I still haven't caught that one! Interesting ranking, you're top 2 are probably my top 2, maybe not in that order. And last place for me belongs to Thor the dark world. I'd have to rewatch some of the others to put them in a spot though. Great explanations to go along with your reasoning too.
