I'm sick of hearing "put aside the viewership", it is because of Clark's basketball on the court that you have the viewers, pure and simple. What other reason is there for people to come and watch?

People are watching, one because she is exciting and two, watching the journey of this rookie transform and become possibly one of the WNBA's best ever players, and they want to be there to see history being made.

And it seems a lot of commentators do not want to omit that. Is Clark the best right now? No. Could she be the best? Yes. Is she exciting to watch? Yes. Does she do things that make you go WOW? Yes. This is why she is popular.

As ESPN noted, Clark scored or assisted on 46 of the Fever’s 83 points on Saturday.

CLARK is #1 in the WNBA in this most impactful STAT - SHE IS AT 713

Clark is still atop the WNBA’s points scored or assisted chart coming out of Sunday, too. Dallas’ Arike Ogunbowale scored 13 points and assisted four times to account for 21 points, while Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson scored 28 points and had a pair of assists to account for 33 points.

That brought their respective season totals up to 705 points scored or assisted on for Ogunbowale and 671 points scored or assisted on for Wilson.

To be fair to Wilson and New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu, the Fever have played two more games than the Aces and one more than the Liberty to date.

Nevertheless, Clark being alongside those names is another indication of the magical rookie season she’s enjoying and a strong argument in the WNBA Rookie of the Year chase.

This entire debate of ROTY is a bit ridiculous. There is no doubt that AR is a talented athlete who is aggressive. Give her props for rebounding, but let’s get serious about her actual basketball skills. She has little to no post moves, cannot really dribble very well and cannot shoot much beyond 5 feet. CC as a rookie is running the offence, is an assist machine and has tremendous shooting range. She is often guarded full court and teams have stated CC is the top of every player to shut down. Her achilles are turnovers which are coming down as the season progresses.

Both are great athletes but the skill level of CC is superior
