if a glitch happens they can just say "it's part of the game because you're in the matrix"

The camera shaking and completely missing the important scene really sells it as a game based on a movie.

Even though its a tech demo, and the physics not being entirely "realistic" and more arcade, it's still amazing that they even worried about the car's physics and deformation at all, and it's honestly better than most games ever did it.

Edit: Anybody else feels like mentioning gta iv?

The color scheme is incredible. Perfectly captures the feel of the first movie.

Honestly i'd be down for an open world game where my car isn't like 3x as indestructible as everyone else's and had like a semi realistic level of destruction to a real car

This is obviously just a demo, but imagine these graphics with the crash physics of GTA IV. That game was so good with anything driving related

just a reminder for everyone this isn't a game it's a tech demo and will probably never be a game
but that doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable looks fun to mess around in

Still more destruction on a single car than in entire Battlefield 2042.

I can already see GTA youtubers using matrix as a fake thumbnail for "omg GTA 6 announced!"

BeamNG is still unrivaled when it comes to realistic car crash physics.

The reason the car deformation is so odd in the tech demo is because when a car crashes it switches the object’s mesh from Nanite to a standard deformable mesh. Nanite cannot currently be deformed.

When i first saw the announcement i thought it would just be a short interactive tech demo movie like the beginning of it and nothing else. But you get a full on city with working traffic, tons of cars, damage models, pedestrians that actually react, you can freely drive and walk and fly around, change day/night etc.
They really didn't have to go out that much, but i guess it's also good marketing for UE5.

The car just kinda flies when you hit it, I mean you can’t really blame because this isn’t a fully polished game

I've noticed this A LOT lately, everyone spending billions on graphics and not a dev team focusing on physics and animations. The last great step forward was (and keeps being) beamng and euphoria engine from gta 4

Guys, this is not a game, its a tech demo. It isn't supposed to have the best physics in the world, its just to show what Unreal Engine 5 can do.

Also, the demo looks green and pale because of the Matrix filter, you can turn it off and it will look much more realistic

Yeah, to be honest this is a solid setup. More deformation than normal, the crash was satisfying but arcadey enough to suspend realism and allow you to drive off without the "damn I should've died there" idea

Imagine people don´t knowing what a demo is and thinking that this gonna be a video game.

The first hit at 0:06 0:07 mark you can see the mirror dangle like it broke as well as some other lights/parts, that's more impressive/accurate than the rollover t-bone collisions after lol! very interesting

It is nice to see that they slowly start to make cars more realistic. I hope someday every game with cars has a "BeamNG drive" mode for people who want to see good crashes and be fataly punished for driving like a maniac.
