Thanks for making this video. Loads of people seem to not recommend doing this because why not just get an sdd but I've got a load of small hdd that I might make into a small games folder.

Sweet. I just got an ORICO m.2 to Sara adapter. It says it supports ROC. We'll see.

Just as a side note:

1. This M.2 adapter uses 2 lanes of PCIe Gen3, which gives you around 16Gbps or 2GB/s connection from the adapters' controller to the CPU/chipset.

2. Each SATA III port gives you 6Gbps or 1.5GB/s connection between the adapters' controller and each disk.

3. A single disk goes upto around 200-250 MB/s ot 1.6-2 Gbps speed on its own.

So there is enough interface headroom for every single drive in the RAID array to show its maximum potential.

Impressive. Thank you so much. Blessings.

So besides the failure points in a raid 0 would it be ideal for game storage to pickup a matched set of hard drives off eBay and raid 0 them to speed up loading times without spending close or over 100 dollars per tb for a ssd?

What if my hard drives are connected directly to my motherboard? Would i get the same speeds?

What processor model is in your PC and what percentage is it loaded when working with a RAID 0 array?

Thanks for the vid. Could you redo this test with RAID5? Thinking of just using 2 fat 20TB drives in RAID0 or 3-4 drives in RAID5 for non-critical archival just because single HDD speeds have barely progressed in a decade and we're stuck at 200-250MB/s. Other than the OS drive, fast SSDs are kind of pointless when I have to eventually copy everything to slow HDDs anyway.

Why I'm getting 80MBPS on my HDD?

Friend a query. I have 2 Rigid Disks WD Black 500GB approximately (speed 150Mb / s) in RAID 0 from the precessor with SATA 2.0. And the CristalDiskMark marks me in Read (141.2 MB / s) and Write (154MB / s). It's like he's not doubling his speed. It will be a problem with the SATA controller (Drivers). SATA 1: 150MB / s; SATA 2: 300MB / s ;. Asus P5E3Premium Wifi @ AP. Thanks.

The m.2 sata (M key) max speed is about 560mbps write/read, don't think it can transfer that ~1 gbps you achieved with the m.2 pcie one.

For Speed and safety:
1 HDD = No RAID
2 HDD = RAID 0
3 HDD = RAID 5
4 HDD = RAID 5
5 HDD = RAID 6
.. HDD = RAID 6
