Theory Regal Wool Crewneck Sweater VS UNIQLO Extra Fine Merino Turtleneck Long-Sleeve Sweater!
Merino wool is one of natures finest materials however, the price of finished merino wool garments can vary dramatically.
In this vlog I compare the cheapest merino wool sweater I could find to one of the most expensive.
The Uniqlo merino wool turtle neck will set you back approximately $50.00 USD. If you think that is expensive the sweater I’m comparing it to, the Theory Good Wool Regal Sweater is 4X times the cost at $200.00.
Dramatic ranges in garment prices of similar material is nothing new.
For the end consumer it can be difficult to determine if the extra money is worth it.

Despite the fit and weave/knit looking better on the Theory @6:07 is the deal breaker for me! So different and look at both the color loss and pilling! I love wool especially Merino but the price and poor durability keeps me in synthetics :( Wool and Prince MIGHT sell me on their shirts given they offer a wool/linen blend amonst all of their other blend options. Great video.

I prefer Uniqlo Heattech over merino wool. I bought 2 merino wool shirts for my last trip. One didn't even last a few months being stored and had moth holes all over it. I think the difference is, I always have access to a washer and I'm not into heavy physical activities. I washed my merino wool regularly too. Dead skin cells and oils get into the material as well, not just bacteria. I feel for the casual traveler, that merino wool is in the same category as carry-on only and being cashless. It works for some people, but not for me.

Great review and comparison. All merino sweaters pill fast in my opinion but an electric pill shaver brings it back to newish looking. I agree that Uniqlo sweaters are too long and baggy in the sleeve at all sizes. The body is forgiving. A silky AIRism undershirt negates any discomfort for those w/ sensitive skin. The Heat Tech shirts are a great alternative also. For functionality and quality per cost, Uniqlo is great, affordable, and gets the job done. Naadam brand, like Theory fits much better than Uniqlo and the Naadam original sweater is a nice middle ground for fit, quality, price.

Once you reach a certain age…you start thanking God for UNIQLO. Meaning, wearing clothes that you like. Not for getting noticed. Good quality. Good cut. Lasts a few seasons. 👍
