I’ve owned two IWC watches in the past. The first was an Aquatimer Galapagos, with the rubberized bezel. I loved this watch except that the strap was too short to fit my wrists (I bought it from an online retailer without trying it on) and it had non-standard lugs so normal straps and spring bars wouldn’t fit. I had to buy one of the same type of straps with the same type of fitments, which they didn’t make. So I sold it, which was a shame because as mentioned I really liked the look, size, and feel of the watch it self. The 2nd IWC I bought was a Mark XVIII with a blue dial from an IWC AD. I had to buy three extra links in order for it to fit my 7.75 inch wrist, bumping up the price several hundred more dollars. I soon sold it to fund another purchase; I wasn’t wearing it that often because I thought it was boring.

While in Chicago last summer for the Windup Watch Fair, I visited the IWC boutique to try on the IWC Spitfire 39mm. I also tried on the Spitfire Chronograph 41mm. The experience taught me that I am not ready to move up into that price category, at least for IWC. My Sinn 556 and 356 satisfy my needs in the pilot’s watch department.

Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭 Bob. You have officially gone international 👍. Thanks for posting. Excellent content as always. I had no idea the IWC collection was so extensive. They do make some very nice pieces. Till next time Bob. Thanks for posting 👍

Bought the 39mm silver IWC 3706-28
Second hand last year as 35th bday gift for myself..

Not too common..Great price, perfect size, very versatile, durable 7750 movement.. can't fault it

Great video, always informative. I would only be interested in IWC pilot watches or the older model aquatimer and ingeniur. Definitely better value elsewhere for a Portafino style dress watch

How does the quality control and overall quality compare to Stowa and Laco?
Would think there must be a significant difference to justify the price difference even with the dimineting return when the styling in some cases gets close to indistinguishable to the more affordable alternatives. Or do they exist more of the name and people being willing to pay up for the IWC name?

A very extensive collection; Top Gun and Tom Cruise is a very powerful marketing vehicle for this company.

how do you not see value in a power reserve indicator on a 7-day power reserve watch of this type? Obviously, this is not an everyday watch and you actually would want to know how much power reserve is there left in the movement to make sure it doesn't stop after several days of sitting in the watch box

All their pilot watches look alike and other brands like Laco give you the same experience for much less money. Some of their movements are off the shelf (nothing wrong there) but the watches are overpriced! Type 18 has been criticised that underperforms for the price. And of course their latest ingenieur although nice, much much overpriced. So I gues the theme is the pricing, lol.
