Have an app idea? Don't make this classic startup mistake

Nelly, I have an amazing idea for an app, where can I find a developer?

This is a question that I get from non-technical startup founders almost on a daily basis.

One of the biggest and most expensive mistakes that I see entrepreneurs make is wanting to hire a developer to start writing code…way too soon.

In the 10-step development process that I use as a CTO to manage my teams and projects, writing code is actually step number 8!

Which means that there are 7… steps… to take… before even a line of code is written. Doing these 7 steps will make writing the code so much more efficient, so much easier for the developer and if you do these 7 steps, well then, you will also save a ton of time and a ton of money.

As a long-time project manager for both startups and established publishing companies, I wish every single one of them would have watched your video. I've seen great ideas never get off the ground because steps 1-6 were never properly done, or done at all. Thank you!

Thank you so much for those amazing videos. I want your personal opinion on something please. How can you secure yourself if you get a CTO for not stealing the idea and doing it him/herself? What is the best way to protect yourself as a non-tech founder?

Thank you so much

Great video! What tools do you recommend for non-tech people to build prototypes with?
