I've bought so many items over the years that were "almost" pieces. They were almost as good, or they looked almost like my dream piece, but I always end up unhappy with my purchase because it's not the truly authentic item I've been dreaming of. The old saying "buy once, cry once" is correct. If you just wait and buy the actual piece you want, you'll be much happier in the long run. Totally agree with your thoughts. My F bass and 200 y.o. double bass took some serious money management to acquire...but totally worth the effort!
