The only thing suffering on a td42 from a bad filter is the injector pump and it has the same pump as a 1HZ so no different then the equivalent Toyota

Hard to believe but 2nd Gen Toyota Tacomas (and probably others) in the US have NO serviceable fuel filter. It's in the tank, and they still go 200k miles. TBH I'd rather have an inline filter.
