The sparkling song isn't really when you point an object.
It's when you stay in the same room for 20s up to 1 minute the Guiding Light entity (friendly btw) will help you with the sparkling audio clue which mean a key is close to you. It will also emit some blue lights specially for the next door in the Dark rooms (Really dark room with Screech in it)

0:25 this actually fits in with the game, the badge for surviving eyes is called "Last chance to look at me" which is also what gus says in the scene you picked from Face Off. (Btw it is confirmed the badge name is a reference to what gus says in the scene)

Fun fact: rush’s sound was really made from a sound called glitch. To hear rush and ambush go to 0.6 or 0.06 to hear glitch. Stay at normal pitch.
