I have been using Apple’s leather and silicone cases for the past months on my iPhone 14 and 14 Pro. These are both good cases with their own set of strengths, but depending on your style and what you look for in a case, one may be better over the other. Today I will go over everything you need to know. PRICE. $49 / £49 Silicone case. $59 / £59 Leather case. COLOURS. Silicone case, 8 colours. Leather case, 5 colours. Both in Midnight. DESIGN COMP. From outside, cases have similar silhouette. Though Apple logo on leather case is embossed - very sharp. INTERIOR. Both feature nice microfibre interior. Helps protect your phone from scratches when taking case on and off. FIT. Each case activates Apple’s MagSafe animation, nice touch. Both have a tight fit around the phone. FEEL IN THE HAND AND GRIP. Silicone case has this nice soft finish. Compared to previous silicone cases from apple the silicone is smoother less sticky. Leather case with natural texture has this premium feel that only leather can give. Grain texture in the supple leather provides a bit grip while still feeling smooth to the touch. Both cases feel good in the hand. To me the leather case actually feels a bit more grippy. While the impact absorbed silicone feels a bit more durable. BUTTONS. Leather case has colour matched aluminium buttons that feel clicky - I like this, just like pressing the buttons on iPhone. Silicone case, buttons are darker to match the Apple logo, made of the same silicone as case so are a bit more mushy and not as tactile. RAISED EDGES. A feature I always find important in a case is raised edges. Both cases feature a plastic raised edges by the camera and around the display to protect from surfaces. THICKNESS. Area that surprised me, I thought leather case would be thicker. But leather case is only a hair thicker. Also worth mentioning that unlike the leather case, the silicone case does attract pocket lint, this can be easily wiped off but for me this is something I am not a big fan off. WHO’S EACH CASE FOR? Leather case: More classy, Pairs seamlessly with leather wallet, Premium feel in the hand. Silicone case: Better for more active lifestyle, More impact resistant, Slightly lower price.

Honestly I’ve tried so many cases and for some reason I always end up going right back to my Apple silicone and leather.. I feel like the fit and look of Apple cases are always the best in my opinion.

I was surprised by the lack of durability considering the price of the silicone place, they always seem to chip off around the corners. In the end I moved to an otter box silicone case, far more durable.

I have owned the leather case on the 14 pro max and the silicone case on the 13 pro. I love the silicone case. Fits the device perfectly and gives your iphone a lot of grip in your hand while smoothing down the stainless steel edges i find quite sharp. Magsafe is even better due to the added silicone grip so my leather wallet doesn't slide around as much as without having a case on. But the buttons on the leather case are so nice as they are metal.

I do know the leather case will patina over time and the silicone case will wear down but thats just due to the nature of the materials.

I’ve been using silicone for years but went for leather on iPhone 14. Leather looks bad already after 3 months of use, reaching for silent button is a challenge on that case, I went back using silicone now for practicality. If I have the leather newly bought again, I will not use it daily but instead in a fancy places maybe just to keep the leather looking great. The things they said about leather feels better in hands, that’s subjective because silicone feels better on gadgets and leather on other stuffs like chair, wallet or car interior

I tried both cases on my phone 14 pro, I prefer the leather case so premium nice on the hands, silicone collecting dust from everywhere. Leather is better choice in my opinion also both cases don’t add in bulk to the phone.

I love both, If I'm going to a meeting, night out I'll use the midnight leather. But if I am out casually, or in the house I'll use silicon. :)

I just got my iPhone 14 Pro Max case but the clear case one. I was even hesitant at first because of the open cut at the bottom but, it feels good and better now. I’m no longer seeing it as a problem

@tthegoldensouls I would probably go for the leather just because of how beautiful it looks but the silicone is never a bad option just because of the protection that it provides. Though it collecting pocket lint is such a bummer.
