I have had 2 ebay nockoff 5ah batteries for going on 3 years now, I haven't compared the run time/charge time with my oem batteries but they are still going strong with no noticeable difference 👍

The waitleys are pretty solid. I’ve had some bad knock offs in my time, but the Waitley’s perform well. I’ve owned my oldest waitley battery now for about 4 years. I use them on a daily basis.

I bought a couple of 6.0Ah after market batteries about 3 years ago. Power-wise they have held up pretty well. Sturdiness-wise they are not quite up to the same standards as the Dewalts. Both have list the sticker that covers the area for the power level LEDs. Not a big deal. One though the case has cracked at the juncture where the battery slides into the battery slot on the tool. It still works but only on tools such as a flashlight, fan, or radio where it isn’t jostled around and pulls the battery contacts away from the tool due to the crack in the case. I have tried to epoxy it back together but it just doesn’t hold.

Just found your channel because I bought the Dewalt poke saw and love it too and your one year follow up review showed up in my feed. Have subscribed.

I bought two 8 ah clone batteries from Amazon last week for $50. A DeWalt 5ah battery would have cost me $75. I bought them to run in my DeWalt saws. They work fine in my DCS 391 and 571. Even if they don’t produce a full 8 ah I still have two of them. When DeWalt stops gouging its customers with their grossly inflated prices; I will buy a few new DeWalt batteries, but not until then.

I have tried several knock offs and most were garbage, I now own 8 Waitley 6ah batteries that cost me £50 for 2 and they are easily the best of the knock offs. Not as good as the Dewalts but the closest of all the knock offs to the originals.

I’d like to see how they handle our cold with a drain and recharge life span. Good review and comparison Tim. I have 2 in my cart. Looks like I’m gonna pull the trigger.

I have both and when they die I open them up and spot weld in new better batterys and then they are better than dewalt or waitleys

Hi.That “yellow” “Dewalt” battery you have here isn’t original Dewalt. See the black spots at the edges of the battery side rails? Is the middle LED power lever smaller than the other two? If so, not good. The “Dewalt” logo on top of the battery looks somehow different.Look into it.

Gonna bet the weight is mostly a better heat sink.

I own several knock offs for about 4 years. They still run, some only charge two bars out of three. They are good for drills and low power output but they die quick in a sawzall

I would be curious to see a review one year later, as for capacity and run time. The issue of these batteries and I've had myself is that they work fine at first and quickly die within 6 months. Therefore the value becomes negligible depends on how often you use your tool

I'm looking at buying some aftermarket batteries. Has anyone used the brand Tenmoer? They look like the Waitley battery with a different name on it. Any info would be appreciated.

Mine last pretty long and I'm surprised. Only thing is the charger indicates it's still charging even after a few hours on the port charge

The cheap batteries break easier. I taped a broke one together to keep using it and it burned up in my truck.

Everyone compares like models. Yeah, the Dewalt is going to be better than the exact same knockoff. I have a Worx 20V 6AH knockoff. It's not going to be better than the one from Worx, but the one from Worx is 5X more expensive. My 6AH knockoff lasts longer than the 4AH Worx battery. And it's 1/4 the price. These companies need to start trying to compete, and not pretending they're the only game in town.
