Scale Drawings. How To Find The Real Life Distance Between A and B In Kilometres - Scale As A Ratio

Показать описание
In this video you will be shown how to work out the real life distance between A and B in kilometres on a map drawn to scale.
In example 1 you need to work out the real life distance in km between A and B drawn to a scale of 1:50,000. First of all measure the distance between A and B with a ruler. This can either be done in mm or cm. In the video the distance was measured to 6.1cm. Next multiply 6.1 by 50,000 to give the real life distance in cm. This is 305,000cm.
Finally, you need to convert the measurement to km. First divide the answer by 100 to give the answer in metres as there are 100cm to a metre. Next divide the answer by 1000 to give the answer in kilometres as there are 1000m to a km. The final answer will be 3.05km.
