Death Stranding Sold 'Quite Well', New 3D Action Exclusive From Team Asobi, PS5 Games Topping Charts

Today we have more PlayStation news to cover starting with Kojima Productions revealing Death Stranding sales numbers. According to Kojima Productions it sold "quite well". We also have some new sales data to cover and it reveals that PlayStation exclusives are still topping the sales charts, even months after they released. We have a new job listing that reveals some new info about Team Asobi and their next game. Finally we have another small development update on upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Final Fantasy 16.

As I said, there's no way for us to know for sure how Sony feels about these sales numbers, but considering they are doing a Directors Cut version of Death Stranding, I think that's a good sign. Also, anyone notice the picture Kojima posted? at his "machine" showing the Death Stranding logo. Picture was in Black and White.

Astro's playroom is the game that I want to play the most after Rachet&Clank.
That thing is pure PlayStation nostalgia.
Hopefully I can get a PS5 soon.

I’m SUPER excited of the prospect of a new Astro Bot game, I absolutely loved Astro Bot Rescue Mission for PSVR that was my favorite game of 2018 and probably one of my favorite platformers of all time! I also loved Astro’s Playroom, which was really fun and charming and really showed off the potential for the Dualsense controller, and it was also an amazing game in it’s own right! So I’m extremely excited for ANYTHING Astro Bot related, I’m excited that Team Asobi and PlayStation are counting this fantastic series!

Hell yeah my 4 year old son will love this ASTRO game. He's in love with Astro's playroom and we both play together taking turns but a 2 player Astro game will be awesome.

Death stranding was unique and amazing, the people who stayed till the end i feel we all rewarded.
The problem is that (for me) its very dificult to replay the game.

Sony new exactly how well Astros packed in game would do. Anyone that’s played the VR game knows how wonderful that game is. It’s truly amazing and VERY underrated. Even as “old” as PSVR seems sometimes, I just can’t believe how many people haven’t experienced that VR game.

I bought the PS5 because of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. I play that game more than any other. But after Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart it's hands down Astros Playroom.

I burn myself out on DS. I was to busy building bridge for players and storage near hot spot. I didn’t finish the game but people gave me a lot of likes for my struggle.

100% buying the upgrade for death stranding. I got about half way across the map on ps4 and had to stop playing it, always intended on finishing it but after picking up a ps5 and seeing the upgrades sony has been giving to games, as soon as I knew an upgrade was on the table I had to wait for it. Cant wait to get back to this game.

Considering how a lot of Sony Japan was folded into Asobi team, I could see them becoming a multi-game studio. I think it's just about certain that one of the games they're working on is a new Astro game as a showcase for PSVR 2. Not sure it would be playable outside of VR though. I mean when you think of it, that would be like if Astro's Playroom was playable without the DualSense. If it's designed to showcase tech, you gotta use that tech to play it. Still it would be cool if there were a way that it could be playable outside of VR in some way that would entice people to try the VR version.

And for anyone who loved Astro's Playroom, you should seriously consider trying to find a way to play Astrobot Rescue Mission for PSVR. Borrow a PSVR from a friend, track down a cheap used one, whatever you gotta do. It's a fantastic platformer that's greatly enhanced by being in VR. I'm hoping PSVR 2 is backward compatible so that people who jump into VR on that headset can catch up on some of the amazing experiences they missed on the PSVR 1, and Astrobot Rescue Mission would be near the top of that list.
