Dr Michael Jana on 2019 Malawian polls
Показать описание
Malawians went to the polls on Tuesday to elect a president, members of parliament and local government councillors. President Peter Mutharika is seeking a second term, and is being challenged by his deputy, Saulos Chilima, and the leader of the country's biggest opposition party, Lazarus Chakwera. Latest reports are that police in the northern Karonga district have arrested a governor for allegedly offering bribes at a polling centre. Although voters are said to have assaulted the governor, the process has been mainly peaceful.
