That's actually really sad, Esther was a very talented woman and just got white washed and copied. I will draw Betty as a black woman for now on, for Esther.

Sorry, but
1)the woman in that photo is not Baby Esther
2) Baby Esther never performed at the Cotton Club
3) Baby Esther DID achieve mainstream celebrity...as a dancer and acrobat. She sold out venues on three continents(North America, South America, Europe), and performed by special request of the Queen if Spain.
4)the sole claim to Helen Kane "seeing Esther and stealing her style" comes from Lou Bolton. However, during trial cross-examination, Bolton's story fell apart, and he had to withdraw his statement, and say that he had never seen Helen Kane at a Baby Esther show.
5) the origin of the film could not be proved. As such, it played no part in the Kane-Fleischer trial verdict.
6) it could be proved that Helen Kane had been performing in her style since at least 1922
7) the judge's ruling never mentioned Esther. Kane lost because nobody can trademark a musical style
8) Baby Esther was 7 years old at the time Bolton alleged(but then later withdrew the allegation) that Kane 'stole her act'. Betty Boop was known for her curvy, womanly figure, and sexuality.
9) it was only in c 2013/2014 that someone misread(or perhaps deliberately misrepresented) a reference in a book, that Esther was "rediscovered" and went viral.
10) I absolutely agree that people should remember Baby Esther for everything she achieved. But inspiring Helen Kane and Betty Boop was NOT one of those things.
