Shannon Sharpe was selected by Denver in the 7th round of the 1990 NFL draft as a wide receiver. He played WR for 2 seasons and caught just 29 passes combined. They converted him to tight end and prior to the 1992 season, where he blossomed into a future hall of famer.

Ryan Tannehill was recruited as a QB, had to sit so the A&M had him play WR until he got his opportunity. He wasn't kicked out of the QB room he competed for the starting QB position both years he played WR at A&M.
