Several South Korean artists have launched a joint lawsuit seeking compensation for what they claim to be illegal monitoring and denial of funding by the government because of their political views. They want $400,000 – a figure which they say will rise as more details emerge from a criminal investigation into a supposed “blacklist”.

The allegations also involved the impeached President Park Geun-hye.

Al Jazeera's Harry Fawcett reports from Seoul.
