10 Reasons I Love GNOME. One thing that you’re going to find in this list is that everything here in this list is that most of it comes back to design. I make no apologies for that. Design is, in my opinion, the most important part of a user interface. Neglecting design, or designs that clash or are inconsistent, is the cardinal sin of our friends in Redmond and we should and can be better than that.

🙂 I really do not care if a person likes the GNOME desktop environment. The most important thing is that they are using Linux!

I find it so interesting how some things work well for some people, but other things work well for other people. For example; GNOME is your baby and you don't like KDE, but it's the complete opposite for me.

Yes. The best designs are simple, straightforward, accessible, present themselves when necessary, and disappear when not necessary.

I just want to point out that that footage of KDE's System Settings is fairly out of date. The System Settings' UI in Plasma 5.15 is much more consistent and streamlined. Don't take this the wrong way, but please, for the love of God and your own channel's well being, please use updated footage and make sure the flaws you're going to talk about are still there at the time of filming so you don't just end up fueling fanboys and haters from each side.
Also, I've been running Plasma since 5.13 and I can say it's pretty darn stable.

I've used GNOME out of the box, no tweaks loved it, but when I did finally make those tweaks, it became perfect.

Yeah I just hope they continue with the performance optimizations

I really don't care if a person loves GNOME. As long as they accept the fact that XFCE is the best.

As a Mac user and Apple fan who is just getting into Linux, I love how Gnome combines many of the things that I love the most about macOS with what maked Linux awesome and different from macOS.

I will still personally prefer macOS, but Linux with Gnome is now (after only a week or so of use) a very very solid number two. And I very much understand how it can be the number one for a lot of people. Linux rocks!

I prefer Budgie. It’s a good mix between GNOME and a more Windows looking DE like XFCE. I especially like the Raven notification center.

I like GNOME. I like KDE too. I love GNOME ease of use and simplicity, and KDE for it's easy but complete customizability. So recreate GNOME in KDE.

I have never liked using Gnome. I have only liked KDE Plasma and Cinnamon

I'm a GNOME fan too, but some gripes with this list:

1) The KDE video you showed was from 2014. Not a fair comparison at all.
2) The new Adwaita is fantastic, and definitely my favorite look for GNOME, but I disagree that it's so easily *the* best look of any Linux desktop; nothing beats elementary OS for me.

jesus, what version of KDE is that? they have a search box now and that makes finding settings so much easier, the whole settings app has been reworked since then. i think if you're gonna compare these things, at least try to do it properly.
and the argument that GNOME is supposed to be used with keyboard, lol, you can do that on KDE just fine. if i wanted an interface that was soley controlled by the keyboard, i'd use i3 or something that actually does it properly

I use gnome because it comes with vanilla Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu because I want everything to work or have instructions to fix it. I also use it because I develop and I want my stuff to automatically work on the most popular Linux distro. It's a compromise of convenience. Gnome is fine, I like it.

Dude... I'm totally with you! Gnome 3 is by far the best! (Perhaps not with Adwaita, but wtv)
