York is a German electronic music duo founded in 1997 by brothers Torsten and Jörg Stenzel. They most often produced music in the Trance, Downtempo and House genres. Their productions are known for their catchy guitar sounds and delicate dance textures.
It can be said that Torsten Stenzel began his musical career as a child, for he was already learning to play the piano when he began studying classical music at the age of 5. He continued this study until the age of 18, for 2 years even playing the church organ in his hometown.
In the early 1990s, however, he headed in a completely different direction, towards the growing techno/house trend. Gradually, he set up his own studio and combined his music production skills and knowledge acquired over the years in music theory and classical music
Torsten has worked with artists such as Tina Turner, Jennifer Paige, All Saints, Moby, Tarja Turunen, Faithless, Vanessa Mae, Chris Rea, ATB, Rick Nowels, Rob Davis and Nadja Benaissa, among others. He has won several gold and platinum awards, or an "Echo" nomination.
Second brother Jörg Stenzel was interested in stringed instruments from the age of 11, and precociously in guitar, a characteristic of great guitarists such as Hendrix and Santana.
Jörg brought his guitar playing skills to perfection
In 1997, the brothers decided to combine their guitar sound with electronic music and this is how the two brothers established the project "YORK"
York has released four successful UK singles .
Their first single "The Awakening" reached number 11 on the UK singles chart in October 1999.
