Feeling silly, because my nerdy ass legitimately thought you were going to talk about how many newtons are exerted on each string

Tension is a tool that sounds great when used at the right moments. You just don't want to play like that all the time

I get what you say. However, tension is a tool. We should learn to control it and know when to use it.

It also depends on what kind of music you’re trying to play

dear everyone saying tension is good for styles or concepts i think it depends on the fretboard but from my experience it sharpens the note (people tell me i probably have perfect pitch but i havent done too much research so that might not be relevant but if it is maybe it doesnt matter to most people)

Can you do a series where you play people’s favorite song if so can you play smooth by Santana?

Why not both? The glory of the guitar is every little nuance you do adds to the sound. Some of the best guitar players beat the ever loving shit out of there guitars when they play. That second little lick you played sounded better with tension than without

My favorite guitarist has mastered the art of tension and release… musically speaking more than physically. Trey Anastasio…

I think tension actually makes me like guitar playing better, because it makes it seem like the guitar player is genuinely taking out their emotions on the instrument, or at least focusing really hard on playing it. And tension and precision don't have to be separate.
