The question is, where does Von Neumann’s chain end? At the Geiger counter? At the fly? At me? At you watching?

Imagine watching it a second time and this time is the fly is dead.

Fun fact: Schrodinger created this thought experiment to demonstrate how bad he thought Copenhagen's idea of quantum uncertainty was, but now everyone thinks it was Schrodinger's idea

Meanwhile in an alternate universe: the fly is dead, fate was not in their favor.

Schrodinger's cat is basically "if a tree fell in a forest, and nobody is around to observe it happening, it has simultaneously fell, already fallen, and standing, all at the same time"

The original comment was a joke, to point out how gullible people are and how easily you can create a disaster out of limited understanding

20K likes and even the "physics experts" sometimes didn't even get it

Remember that its an absolutely stupid assumption to think that something can exist in two states at once, simply because of your limited perspective and the tools you use influence the outcome to show an inaccurate result, furthering your own confirmation bias

Such an example would be the "wave function collapse" experiment, the particles are so small that even a single photon can affect its behavior

We already have elements that react to light to produce electrical potential, and even neutrons still provide a gravity of sorts to keep the nucleus together within an atom

Quantum mechanics work on a level we have no capability to understand, or fully interact with

The "tree" is either standing or not, but not both, it can be in an in-between state that fools you into thinking that it is, but it is always in some form of definable status

The assumption that matter can basically exist and not is basically a violation of the laws of physics, which would mean that our mathematics are wrong too, which means that we can only mathematically prove something by omitting its contradictory, but key, aspects

Sometimes,
Something moves so fast that you can only predict the current position

At a given point in time, a particle exists in a definite state, but we cannot define it due to our limited perception

Have you ever looked at the nvidia-der8uer controversy?

Nvidia just didn't have the capability to show the transient power spikes, due to the "polling rate" (intentionally or not)
This is exactly the same

We cannot measure something that happens faster than our own "polling rate" and any methods of doing so require interfering with the subject, which changes the outcome

Time is not your friend

It’s like a fly version of Saw.

Me: *sees fly.* “wanna play a game?”

Schrödinger's Cat is a *thought experiment* meant to show how absurd the quantum properties would be on macroscopic objects.
When it comes to bigger structures, we don't observe quantum effects because of something called quantum decoherence, which states that the particles will collapse into a determined state at a given time (which is as small as zero)

So technically, officer,
the orphans I kidnapped are in a state of living OR dead, and until you find them, they're still alive in our minds!
So therefore, I can't be tried for murder JUST yet!

In quantum mechanics, Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment that illustrates a paradox of quantum superposition. In the thought experiment, a hypothetical cat may be considered simultaneously both alive and dead as a result of its fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur.

Schroedinger's cat is also a good example of true irony, rather than most situations which people claim to he ironic, which are actually just annoying or difficult. Schroedinger originally posited the cat scenario as a critique of quantum theory, stating that a cat could not possibly be alive and dead at once. It was later shown that, actually it could be possible and now his example is the most commonly used model to explain quantum theory.

You could say it is both a critique and not a critique at once.

So you mean: "if the fly is away from you and the chunks aren’t loaded and the fly is converting from dying to living and vise versa until you load the chunks again"
