How to be polite in France? 🇫🇷 French etiquette is not as straightforward as you might think. There's a lot of unspoken rules and customs. So I'm decoding them for you. 🎉

Being polite in France is about using the rights words, and having the right attitude. Have you ever been to France? Have you broken any of those rules? Tell me in the comments! 👇

Thank you for such a lovely video!
I loved living in France as a young American and adapting to French manners.

A wonderful group of French people practically adopted me as their own and it certainly enriched my life there.

I was told that at the table you must always keep your hands on the table or visible (versus keeping your hands in your lap in America). I seem to remember something about all the bread served can be placed directly on the tablecloth but that it must all be eaten before coffee. Also, no cigarettes before the cheese course aside from one which can be smoked with the aperitif. Also, it is your duty as a guest to arrive to a dinner party with at least 3 topics of conversation. To discuss nothing but the (albeit glorious) food is considered rude as it might lead people at the table to think about digestion plus it conveys a sense that you find little else interesting about your host and fellow dinner guests.

This was Paris in the 90's. I wonder if such unspoken rules have changed or disappeared with time.
