NOTE: POB is based upon version 2.10.0 - there's an issue with Fireball which causes the damage to be overrepresented in POB. To compensate for this I have added "47% less damage with ignite" as a custom mod. Remove this if Fireball is updated by the time you see this POB. Also POB underestimates spell block at the time of recording.

NOTE ALSO: Flamesurge is not implemented in POB 2.10.0 and at the time of creating this build we do not know its mechanics. If my assumptions are right, boss DPS is around 2.5 million with the Searing Touch setup and level 18 gems. If they are wrong, it's less (and I can only guarantee 325k). Won't know until leaguestart :(

NOTE ON LIFE: You'll want Vermillon Rings at some point, or more life on the tree. This is enough in my experience for bossing in softcore but has no real room for mistakes. If you want more life, Heart and Soul and/or Quick Recovery are close and you can spec them at the expense of some damage. Or even in place of the block nodes. If Scourge has lots of unavoidable damage we might need to reassess the staff block options and use a shield.

Corpse Explosions come online late in progression. Hope to start getting there around the time you've done 200+ maps.

LEVELLING NOTES:

1-30: Fireball is 'bleh' at these levels but it can be done. Or just use your favorite other skill.

31+: At this point you can play the build properly.
Ignite Prolif - Vaal Fireball - (any TWO of the recommended supports) is the plan. Add Wave of Conviction - Combustion for anything durable like act bosses (add Hextouch - Flammability when able). Add Flame Surge when available.

No particular area of the tree is worth rushing to - just take the cluster jewels and staff block nodes LAST.

Stats that help:

Fire damage
Elemental damage
Burning damage
Fire DOT multiplier

A stat that (perhaps counterintuitively) doesn't:

Spell damage.

Join as a channel member to get access to perks (this helps fund the channel):

There is a 0 percent chance that they would just put double dipping back into the game. Flame Surge will be 25% more dps, nothing more.

I'ma watch this whole thing when I wake up so I can understand ignite better. Gonna try one of them firburst builds now that it's more dead.

Great vid! Also replacing Hextouch with the WoC-Flammability-Combustion setup with Arcanist brand gives you more uptime and IMO easier application.

Hi sir, interesting presentation style! I recommend to arrange your gem links according to order of importance. Eg Swift affliction. Helps us prioritise gems and sacrificing whichever links we are lacking.

A way to craft a really nice staff on day 1: You would only need a generic normal staff base and random skill gems with any quality and the "fire" tag(you can pick those up from the floor). Get enough of these gems so the quality adds up to 40%, and then vendor them with the staff to a magic Staff of the same base "+(1-2) to level of all fire spell skill gem". If you don't get the +2 roll, repeat.

after you get the staff, augment if necessary, and regal. If you get a relevant affix like "increased Fire Damage" then that's a score, but the staff would be decent anyway. to finish it of just bench craft whatever mod like ""Fire Damage over Time Multiplier". The result could end up quite similar to 'The Searing Touch'

Good one. Will be starting Ignite Elementalist myself and I agree with everything you said. Gonna experiment with Armor and Recoup Life as defensive options instead of glancing blows.

Two things, you can include heart of destruction on the numbers there is checkbox on the configuration. And malevolence doesn't increase ignite duration, sadly skill effect duration doesn't affect ignite duration. In PoB you can see ignite duration in calc. Usually unbound ailments if what i use if really want to increase damage, but is rarely worth it imo unless you have something that is decreasing your ignite duration like blackflame.

I just upgraded the Searing Touch to the Martyr and OMG what a difference. Also love how they shoot up after dying.

Why corrosive elements on cluster, when we are hardcasting/applying WoC anyways?
I experimented with a very similar elementalist build the last few days and my idea always falls apart with stacking enough defences.
Despite the screen clearing onetap potential, playing with 4k life and GB max block just feels like it won't cut it for everyday play.
I guess this build will need some investment and switching over to a golemsetup for all around solid stats.

You didn't mention it so thought I would: Flame Wall is something to keep in mind. The extra burning damage it adds to your Fireball passing through was just buffed to 150% of its old value. Of course the buff damage does not proliferate outside of the aoe of the Fireball splash, it is still significant. Specifically for the early game, Spell Slinger + Flame Wall runs through the campaign very quickly in my experience, and the Wall itself under a boss is some helpful dps (though should be out classed by Flame Surge now).

I am also starting Elementalist ignite I am pretty sure, Hexblast though! I did Seismic Trap starter in 3.15 and Toxic Rain starters the two before that, time for something new.

I like the build, but I feel that not taking the Anointed Flesh cluster for easy corrupted blood immunity is a mistake. You can drop it later on, if you find or craft a jewel with corrupted blood immunity.

I don't think the burning ground from Flame Surge will work as well as you hope. It would be like old school double dipping.

Have you tried immolate instead of swift affliction ? As base damage is a really good ignite scaler now it's a pretty solid link for ignite builds. Might be better, not sure.

Also as others have said I am 99, 9% sure the burning ground DMG of flame Surge will be a fixed 25% of your ignite. Unscaleable Like other effects that already benefited from all your multipliers , for example plague bearer. Otherwise they would literally introduce ignite double dipping back into the game.
