A judge rejected President-elect Donald Trump’s bid to have his hush money conviction dismissed because of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent ruling on presidential immunity.

Manhattan Judge Juan M. Merchan's decision eliminates one potential off-ramp from the case ahead of Trump’s return to office next month, but his lawyers have raised other arguments for dismissal.

Prosecutors have said there should be some accommodation for his upcoming presidency, but they insist the conviction should stand.

A jury convicted Trump in May of 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a $130,000 hush money payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels in 2016. Trump denies wrongdoing.

LiveNOW's Andrew Craft spoke about the latest update with legal analyst Randy Zelin.

It's still the same Judge Juan Merchan.

Merchan should be removed from office immediately. This lawfare game he is playing is ridiculous.

I think this judge knows he's going to prison for a very long time, so he's getting his last jab in. All charges will be vacated.

Pam should have Juan Merchan arrested on Jan. 20

Time to investigate the judge real good when Trump gets in. The charge was the same 34 times. Just vacate the judge already.

Americans have due process. The court can’t wait 4 years to sentence you.

Lol, Juan Merchan can't get over or accept that Donald Trump is going to be his next president. He's taking his anger out on this case. Good lord, the statue of limitations had already expired and they were misdemeanor charges trumped up to felony charges anyway. This is a joke and Jaun Merchan should be ashamed of himself. He's a real jokester. I'm glad my last name if not Merchan.

the host is incorrect, it was not a conviction. the jury never voted on the felony charges. the jury voted on misdemeanor crimes past the statute of limitations. he is a felon, but not a convicted felon. the judge issued summary judgement on the felony charges. felon, yes. convicted, no.

The entire case seems to resemble a matter of cruel and unusual, and violates the Constitution broadly on many areas of common sense judgment.

Maybe judge can explain how you use a state court to turn misdemeanors into felons and get a conviction with the statue of limitations ran out with judge misleading jury with suppression of evidence, appellate should throw out case and disbar Bragg and Merchant for misuse of State Court.
