Great transformation! Love that vanity too . Just looked at one like that but our drain pipe and intakes are through the floor instead of in the wall. Makes it hard to find a nice vanity that will work.

Nice job, personally I would use Kerdi Fix to fill the gap between the Detra and the tub then the Kerdi Band will have a much better bond. Also, the vertical gap between the tub and drywall needs similar treatment especially bonding to the Kerdi Band you have correctly installed at the transition between floor and wall. Once tiled the grout line between tile and tub can be filled with a color matched silicone (color matched to grout). Other weak area is around the toilet flange, technically the way you have cut squarely around it has no waterproofing, I usually cut a circular hole to match toilet flange then bond to flange with Kerdi Fix. Done many bathrooms on second stories (usually kids bathrooms) that have had a history of leaks using these techniques which has stopped all water seepage.

This is a great point of reference. We just bought a house that had about the same size bathroom and desperately needs an entire makeover. I’m hoping we can do the entire bathroom over ourselves for $1500. Tubs are not as expensive as I thought they’d be .

Jeff, i hear these was less rings fail and on home depots site there’s a lot of reviews of them failing as well. As these up to florida code? if so what are your take on them, you ever been called back after a job due to them?
