The top honor goes to Spotlight. Though people thought that Mad Max had a good shot, it was the brutally honest Spotlight that
finally won the top award of the night.
Spotlight winning for best picture is complete bs. Voting for a picture solely for it's hot subject matter is unfair and insulting to everyone involved in the other films. Spotlight was a very good movie, but it clearly wasn't in the same category as the other films.

Spotlight shouldn't have won. Mark Ruffalo is great while Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams are decent. The cineomatography is smooth and the editing is tight. The screenplay is terrific and delivers an accurate representation of journalism. The movie just feels so empty and simplistic. Stanley Tucci and Liev Schreiber are really good in the small amount of screen time they get. Overall while Spotlight is good but it isn't really anything special and failed to give the characters much depth. Not one character in the film apart from Mark Ruffalo's has any development or motivation to do what they do. The whole thing just feels shallow and completely forgettable.

Another best picture winner that will quickly fade. Mad Max or Revenant should have won.
