Working in academia as a nursing clinical instructor has humbled me in many ways. One of the most important lessons I learned as an instructor is that learning cannot take place if my students are afraid of me.

Eliminating fear is one of the most important tactics I implement whenever I am in the midst of students.

My classmates were in their 40s to 50s and there are definitely some bullies instructors out there who get off on making them cry. Thank you for making this video.

Fear eats confidence. I'd never even begin to think I already know everything but when an instructor or preceptor is so hypercritical that the nurse is so beat down that they're afraid to trust their knowledge base, it's a nightmare. Thank you for being my angel of truth and reality.

I haven't taken my NCLEX yet but when I do I wish I can work along side of you. You are like the sister I never had. It would be such a pleasure to work with you. You have a heart of gold and you're so genuine and a good person at heart. I have heard so many stories about nursing it scares me. I actually got into it with a charge nurse when I was a CNA years ago. She dogged me out all the time until I finally stood up to her. She was not a nice person to say the least. Oh and the DON always backed her up no matter how wrong she was smh. I wish everyone was authentic like you are. I wish everything was harmonic and everyone sings the same tune. The world will be a better place. It would make nursing a lot easier as well. Kendra darling you are a breath of fresh air 💕

My instructor screamed at us every day.. she made me dread clinicals. My hands would shake whenever I was doing a skill in front of her.

I told my student not be afraid of me and be comfortable around me. They took my advise and behaved normal. I remember having anxiety and being afraid of my instructor! It was awful 😖

People should be respected regardless of their age. I went to Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore back in the 90s and we had people of all ages in our classes. We did clinicals on the weekends at all places around Baltimore and Harford counties. I'll always remember when I made a mistake, I was told about it AWAY from the patient. That goes a long way. My mistake was I didn't have gloves on when I was doing an IM, but

I definitely agree with this!!
I transitioned from LPN to RN and when I was in RN school the AP 2 instructor said “I hate nursing students” 😳😳😳😳
I was like “huh, Oh gosh”
I used to teach Medical assistants when I was an LPN and a lot of the MA students would come to me because they were afraid of my old co worker.
This advice was needed and Nursing definitely evolves and when you’re in a frame of mind to learn regardless of the years- you will daily ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I’m sure your students are happy to have you.
Happy Teaching Kendra🎉

1 and 2! Prof seems to think being mean to us will help us succeed . I’ve seen learned to shrug the abuse off my back but deep down I know it isn’t right.

The more I study Nursing as a student. I’m starting to think Nursing is a setup. Then I think about all the people in the world that need help. I don’t know
