Installation and Configuration of Cisco Router CSR 1000v and Cisco Switch NXOSv Titanium on GNS3

Overview
A router basically connect computers to the internet and chooses the best route for your data to travel. On the other hand a layer 3 switch function like layer 2 switch, which basically connect network devices within a Local Area Network but also uses layer 3 information to make its routing decisions within a Wide Area network.
In this video we will install a router, CSR 1000v and a layer 3 switch, Nixus Titanium.

Router
Routers connect computers and other devices to the Internet. A router acts as a dispatcher, choosing the best route for your information to travel. It connects your business to the world, protects information from security threats, and can even decide which computers get priority over others.

CSR 1000v
The Cisco® Cloud Services Router 1000v (CSR 1000v) is a virtual-form-factor router that delivers comprehensive WAN gateway and network services functions into virtual and cloud environments. Using familiar, industry-leading Cisco IOS® XE Software networking capabilities, the CSR 1000v enables enterprises to transparently extend their WANs into provider-hosted clouds. Similarly, cloud providers themselves can use it to offer enterprise-class networking services to their tenants or customers.

Switch
Switches building blocks for any network. They connect multiple devices, such as computers, wireless access points, printers, servers and other Networking devices.

L2
A layer 2 switch forward frames using only layer 2 information (forwarding according to destination MAC address). A layer 2 switch is aware of VLANs and builds a forwarding table based only on layer 2 information (MAC addresses) which allows it to forward within a VLAN.

L3
A layer 3 switch includes the functionality of a layer 2 switch and also is able to use layer 3 information (IP addresses) to make its forwarding decisions. So a layer 3 switch is aware of subnets and networks in addition to being aware of VLANs. A layer 3 switch builds a layer 2 forwarding table to be able to forward within a VLAN. And it also builds a layer 3 forwarding table (IP routing table) to be able to forward between VLANs and between subnets and networks.

Nexus Titanium
The Cisco NX-OS software for the Cisco Nexus 7000 Series fulfills the routing, switching, and storagenetworking requirements of data centers and provides an Extensible Markup Language (XML) interfaceand a command-line interface (CLI) similar to Cisco IOS software.
