Great idea! First I would seal the branch before painting it to prevent it from chipping. I think a high gloss white would work well. Good luck!

Amazing idea! I wouldn't paint it I LOVE the natural look and the gold chains makes it really POP! Just make sure you get your husband to find something to cure/seal the wood with... Lil animals still live in it and if u want it to last longer without drying up and becoming brittle that would help as well! Just a tip but I love this idea!

but I think it would look soo much better if you take some of the same hooks you put in the wall & also put them on the branch, that way it only has one track of chain going up and down verse 2

This turned out so well! Funny I was going to try to make this in my room but I could not find the right branch for the life of me so I gave up. Also, in terms of a mic, I recommend the zoom h1 mic (look on amazon it has the best reviews). It's an external mic so you have to link up the sound but it has the advantage that you can put it right near you to minimize any outside noise and it's less than $100 :)
