The wings are different because the Mk VIII has the short span ailerons and a leading edge fuel tank.

Thanks for the tease Mos, I know what I'm getting for christmas, if it falls together like the Mk9 it should be a fun build. Please ask Airfix to release the engine with a maintaince stand as a stand alone kit.

Hi Mos It looks like they didn't include block tread tyres for the Australian version, but Im guessing there are aftermarket tyres out there.

The Australian scheme shows Humbrol 165 same as the other schemes. Only the printed wording on the colour legend says Medium Sky for some weird reason.

Came across Airfix’s advertising for the MkVIII a couple of weeks ago. Was seriously tempted to order it then I realised I have no where to display it because of the size of the kit. Had to console myself by buying the Tamiya 1/32 Mk IXc because the eBayer who was selling it was including forty quids worth of paints with it. Will probably get the Tamiya Mk VIII at sometime in the future I am sure there is a Grey Nurse included in the markings for that kit. By the way, after Tamiya released the Mk VIII and the Mk IX They released a Mk XVI can we expect the same from Airfix?

In my opinion, there is no approach to the Tamiya’s Spitfire VIII… Unfortunately it is behind despite the larger scale they could have really show off but they didn't, for example the stress panel on the surface, low budget spitfire kit
